LASIK is amazing because you recover so quickly. By the next morning, you can see really clearly.

We often have people coming in, and they’re already annoying their families because they can’t stop talking about how much better they can see as they drive into the clinic.

Seriously though, it really does change people’s lives, and the way they feel about themselves. In that initial period, people often feel superhuman because they’re so used to wearing contact lenses and glasses all of the time.

I can think of many examples of people who were quite introverted when they came to see us, and in just a month, they’re completely different, more outgoing and confident.

One patient in particular that I recall was a Motocross rider, and he’d always had to wear glasses riding his motorbike. He went out riding with his friends, and when he finished the ride he wouldn’t take his helmet off. And I said, “Why wouldn’t you take your helmet off?” He said, “Well, I was really embarrassed. I was so excited, I was crying and I didn’t want my friends to see that.”

There are lots of stories like that, which really demonstrates the value of the procedure.
