How long does LASIK surgery take?
In this post, Dr Nick Mantell explains how LASIK vision correction surgery takes no more than 15-minutes to complete.
The procedure itself is very short. Initially, you come in and we do a very comprehensive examination, which takes about an hour.
There is never much of a wait to have LASIK surgery because we’re operating every day and once you come in to have your laser surgery, the procedure itself takes up no more than 10 to 12 minutes. The actual process of using the laser is much shorter than that.
For example, when we create the flap with the first laser, it typically takes about 16 seconds and then we move you over to a second laser, where we have to elevate the flap. This laser will reshape the cornea. This typically takes between 2 and 12 seconds – it’s painless and very quick.
It then takes a few more seconds to replace the flap and put that back in place.
You will then wait for about 20 minutes so we can check your eye and then send you home. Most people, have their 20/20 vision restored the next day and can see very clearly.
So, if you’ve been thinking about improving your vision. Now is the time to do something about it.
