We’re incredibly proud to share that Dr Narme Deva has been voted onto the board of Ophthalmology New Zealand (ONZ) — a significant achievement and a testament to her leadership within the ophthalmology community.

Dr Deva brings a wealth of expertise to this role. A Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists, she is widely recognised as a key opinion leader in medical retina and uveitis in New Zealand.

Her career reflects a deep commitment to excellence, from managing complex retinal disease and inflammatory eye conditions to contributing to research, teaching, and advancing patient care across Aotearoa.

Dr Deva has extensive experience treating both common and complex retinal conditions using cutting-edge therapies and techniques, improving outcomes for countless patients.

Adding to this, she is playing a pivotal role in shaping the future of uveitis care, involved in creating the inaugural Uveitis Aotearoa 2026 Conference this July, an important step toward strengthening collaboration, education, and innovation in managing inflammatory eye disease in New Zealand.

Dr Deva’s appointment to the ONZ board will help ensure strong representation across subspecialties, supporting ONZ’s mission to advocate for ophthalmologists and improve eye care outcomes nationwide.

Congratulations Dr Deva, we look forward to seeing the impact you’ll continue to make for patients and the profession alike.
