Graeme is a dual fellowship-trained Vitreoretinal and Cataract surgeon with international experience across New Zealand, Canada and the United Kingdom. He completed advanced vitreoretinal fellowships at the world-renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital in London and the University of Alberta in Canada.
He subsequently joined Greenlane Clinical Centre as a Vitreoretinal Surgeon and Consultant Ophthalmologist in 2025. Graeme has performed several thousand vitreoretinal and cataract operations, with expertise spanning retinal detachment, macular surgery, complex diabetic eye disease, ocular trauma and complex cataract surgery.
Graeme graduated from University College London Medical School with the Allen Goldsmith Prize in Ophthalmology and the Moorfields Undergraduate Prize. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (UK) and the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO). He is a specialist registered ophthalmologist in both New Zealand and the United Kingdom, and holds a retina subspecialty qualification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
Training and qualifications:
Graeme trained in the prestigious North London Ophthalmology Training Programme, centred at the internationally renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital, London.
During his specialist training he held several leadership positions, including Chief Resident at Moorfields Eye Hospital, providing leadership and representation for more than 60 ophthalmology trainees, and was the North Thames Representative for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists Ophthalmologists-in-Training Group (OTG). He also gained additional experience working in a Locum Consultant capacity within the Moorfields Eye Hospital Emergency Department, managing acute and complex ophthalmic conditions.
Following completion of specialist training, Graeme undertook advanced subspecialty fellowships in vitreoretinal surgery which encompassed the full spectrum of medical and surgical retinal disease. He also gained fellowship experience working within multidisciplinary subspecialty teams in inherited retinal disease, ocular oncology, posterior uveitis and paediatric vitreoretinal disorders.

Originally born in Singapore, Graeme has lived and worked mainly across the United Kingdom, as well as in Canada and New Zealand. He now calls Auckland home with his wife Alessandra and their three young children. Outside of work, he enjoys travelling, recreational sports and spending quality time with family. Having completed what he fondly calls the “Commonwealth tour”, he looks forward to contributing to, and being a meaningful part of the Auckland community and wider region.
