Dr Kuriachan graduated magna cum laude in Biomedical Engineering from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas, USA. He earned his medical degree with honours from Texas A&M Health Science Centre College of Medicine in Bryan, Texas, USA.

He did his internship in Internal Medicine at Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois, USA before returning to Texas to complete his residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Centre in Dallas.

He worked in private practice for 4 years before opening his own clinic in Texas in July 2018. He has experience in general ophthalmology, medical glaucoma and retina management, cataract surgery, pterygium surgery, and functional eyelid surgery.

Dr. Kuriachan is from India, born and raised in Saudi Arabia, and moved to the US at age 11. There he completed his schooling and started his ophthalmology career. He met his wife in medical school and she started her psychiatry practice. Two kids later, their family yearned for a change of pace and a better quality of life. They visited New Zealand and they all loved it, particularly Wellington. After a long process, they were fortunate that New Zealand welcomed them and now they get to call Wellington home. Dr. Kuriachan looks forward to helping Eye Institute provide the best medical and surgical eye care to its patients.

He enjoys spending time with his three favourite people: his wife and two kids. His interests include acting, baking, astronomy, and martial arts.

While in private practice in Texas, Dr. Kuriachan was named by Living Magazine (a local magazine) as Reader’s Yearly Choice for Best Ophthalmologist 6 times.
He also received the Excellence in Community Outreach award from the president of Texas A&M Health Science Centre College of Medicine for his work in underserved communities.
